FAQ

The treatment procedure - What will happen when I visit?
Your full medical history will be taken at your first appointment. The consultation also includes some physical notes i.e. pulses and blood pressure. You will then receive your first acupuncture treatment. I will create a programme of appropriate treatments specific to your individual needs. The consultation takes approximately an hour
and a half.

Subsequent treatments last around 45 minutes to an hour. Each patient responds differently to treatment and long-standing problems may take longer to heal than recent ones.
On average, four-six treatments are enough. Some people may take more than six treatments before they start to get better but for others it occurs from the first treatment onwards.

What can I expect to pay?
Initial consultation of approximately 90 minutes, including full medical history and first treatment - £135
Following treatment sessions of up to an hour - £75

Does it hurt?
This a very much dependant on the individual. Some people experience absolutely no pain, others do feel a slight dull ache. The needles used in Acupuncture are incredibly thin, like a hair, so even if you do feel a prick of the needle the sensation is more likely to be the stimulation of the acupuncture point than the needle.

What can I do to help my treatment?
I would ask you as your practitioner to help me to help you - it’s going to be a slower path to success if you don’t look after yourself. I ask my patients to eat healthily, try to get a good nights' sleep, fresh air and exercise and drink plenty of water, around two litres a day. Also, as any practitioner in any school of medicine will tell you, living a moderate lifestyle will only help on the road to better health.

Any complications?
There are no known complications.

What can Acupuncture help with?
Acupuncture can be used to treat many physical conditions, including backache, headaches, irregular periods, sinusitis, infertility and stress, but you can benefit from acupuncture without suffering from any particular ailment.

If you are feeling fed-up or just not yourself, perhaps having stress at work or bad times in a relationship, then acupuncture can help you to cope better with things.

From treatment you will experience a greater sense of general well-being and an increased enjoyment and energy for life.

Acupuncture can be an extremely effective (and drug-free) form of pain relief.

Patients also find that their immune systems are able to cope better with colds, throat infections and flu, and moreover, many people find that even if they do catch a virus they tend to suffer less badly and recover more quickly than before.

Many patients continue to use acupuncture as an effective form of preventative medicine.
